Frequently asked questions

  • What are slope cameras for?

Cameras let you see live what the slope looks like right now: how busy it is, visibility, snow coverage, how lifts are running. It's a quick check of current conditions before you head out or during the day.

  • Is the camera feed "live" or delayed?

It's almost "live". Most cameras refresh every few minutes. A slight delay is normal due to refresh cycles, internet connections and server load.

  • Why does the image sometimes seem "frozen", like the camera isn't working?

    Most common reasons:

    • last frame from the end of the day (after dark some cameras switch to night mode or freeze the image),
    • maintenance break (camera servicing),
    • slower internet connection on your side (the image is still loading).
  • How often do cameras refresh during the day?

Typically several to a dozen times per hour – more often in daylight, less at night (when there's little to see anyway). Exact frequency varies between cameras.

  • Do cameras show real snow conditions?

Cameras show what's visible from the given spot: snow coverage, how busy it is, piste-basher tracks, visibility. You won't see the whole mountain or all runs.

  • Do cameras show current lift queues?

Yes, where the frame covers lower stations or queue areas, you can roughly see how many people are waiting for a lift. Just remember things can change from minute to minute (especially mornings and after lunch).

  • Why does a camera show sunshine whilst the forecast says snow/rain?

A camera shows what's happening right now; a forecast shows what's expected in the coming hours. Mountain weather can change quickly, so don't discard a forecast for a camera view – use both together.

  • Do cameras work outside of winter time?

Yes – they then show things like bike trails, valley views, summer weather. It's a lovely way to have a peek at the mountains year-round.
