Frequently asked questions

  • Skiing or snowboarding – which is better for a first timer?

On skis you'll usually pick up the basics more quickly and feel steadier on your feet. Snowboarding gives you that brilliant "flow" feeling, but the start is tougher (expect more tumbles). If it's your very first time on snow, we'd usually suggest skiing. But if you've always fancied boarding – go for it: we'll adapt the exercises and pace to suit you.

  • Do I need any skills to start?

Not at all. We teach from absolute scratch: how to stand on your kit, find your balance, stop, and make your first turns. We start on a gentle, safe slope and only gradually work our way up the mountain.

  • How many lessons are needed to ski a blue run?

It varies from person to person, but typically: 2-3 lessons of 55 minutes plus a bit of practice on your own is usually enough to master stopping and basic turns. That's roughly what it takes to manage your first controlled run on an easy piste.

  • Will I be falling over?

Yes – and that's completely normal when you're learning. At the beginning, think of falls as part of the process. We'll teach you how to fall safely and get back up efficiently so you don't waste energy or lose heart.

Jeśli to Twój pierwszy raz w życiu, częściej polecamy narty. Jeśli zawsze marzyłeś o desce – też damy radę, dobierzemy ćwiczenia i tempo.

  • What is the first lesson like?

We'll meet up, have a quick chat about what you want to achieve, then check and adjust your kit. After that we work on balance, stopping and first turns in a safe beginner area. We'll show you how to fall safely and get back up smoothly so you don't tire yourself out or get discouraged after your first attempts. We match the pace to you – we only move to a steeper slope when you're ready.

  • Do I have to have my own kit?

Not at all. You can hire everything on site. The rental shop will sort out your ski or board length, boots and helmet, and set your bindings. Properly fitted kit means quicker progress and more enjoyment.

  • Do I need to be really fit to start learning?

You just need to feel well and be comfortable with light exercise. Technique is far more important than stamina. If you have any chronic conditions or health concerns – let your instructor know before the lesson.

  • What's better at the start: private or group lesson?

For your very first go, a one-to-one lesson gets you going quickest – the entire time and exercises are devoted to you. If you like, you can bring along a second or third person at a similar level (family, friends). Groups are more budget-friendly and work brilliantly once you've got your ski legs and fancy riding with others.

  • Do I skip the queues during lessons?

Yes. During lessons you get priority lift access, so instead of queuing you're making more runs and progressing faster.
